They are a lot like family at this point. Would you fix a boxer wearing neighbor kid with a few to help him play driveway hoops with better confidence? Would you share them with your best buddy, letting him in on your secret? Would you send your vintage Bikes to a school in hopes the athletic teams would use them? Would you leave them one at a time on a hook in a bathroom or locker room in hopes someone's secret desire was to own a jock? Would you have labeled them with your name? Would you have a garage sale and what price would you put on your jocks? Would you save one to be strapped eternally in the casket? Would you ebay or craigslist them? So many questions, so much to ponder.

The locker room has a lot of drawers where you can put your clothes while you work out. You can even leave your gym clothes there all the time. No locks. I left a jock in an empty drawer. After a few days it was gone. Someone may have thought it was left behind, or that possibility justified stealing it! They guy who took it knew he was stealing. He must have wanted it. It must have been exciting to take it home and try it on!!!! I smile to think that he got as excited as we all did the first time we became men and put on a jockstrap! Spread the love!

By way of background, over the course of my athletic/military/coaching career, I accumulated more than 600 jockstraps. When I approached the athletic department, they kindly declined my offer to donate the jockstraps, saying that public hygiene laws proscribed the donation. I cannot tell you whether this is an accurate statement, but it did make some sense to me at the time. So instead, I gifted the entire collection to a friend of mine who, in turn, has been selling them through online auctions. In reading the question, and in thinking about many of the other topics which we discuss, I would like to make a suggestion. It might help many people along the way, for different reasons. For those who are in a financial position to do so, would you consider contracting with one of the jockstrap vendors who also support (every pun intended!)this website, and place an order for perhaps 100 or 200 new, in the box, jockstraps. Perhaps such a large quantity might elicit a discount in overall price, while at the same time, boosting the professional efforts of the various manufacturers and vendors. Then, make an appointment and take the entire order to the local high school. Donate them to the athletic department with a strong encouragement to distribute the jockstraps free of charge to the student-athletes. There might be an income tax deduction for such a donation - though I would enjoy seeing the facial expressions from the CPA "You donated what?!" While I am not familiar with the protocol or rules governing military installations in the United States, perhaps though a similar donation might be considered for high school ROTC programs or perhaps the nearby military reserve unit. With so many budget cutbacks, I would think that the donation of several boxes of new jockstraps to be distributed without charge to existing and future military personnel might be greatly appreciated. On this website, I hear the lament that jockstraps are not being worn as regularly, especially at the high school age level. Many of us wonder whether the jockstrap might even survive through this current generation. So, may I respectfully suggest that "we", which is to say, those of us who are able to make the appropriate accommodations, take a pro-active stance. If the athletic department is presented with new jockstraps, and if there is some general overview of the medical reasons for teenagers to wear an athletic supporter, and if the jockstraps are then distributed free of charge, then perhaps it might revive the proper use of supporters - and quite seriously, minimize longer-term scrotal damage in our newest generation of athletes and potential military personnel. It is just a thought, but perhaps it might foster the type of revival in the proper wear and use of jockstraps that so many of us, who are so grateful for this website, would like to see. It would also promote the manufacturing and selling of jockstraps. Most importantly, we would pro-actively be assisting the next generation of athletes and soldiers to prevent scrotal injury and perpetuate the use of jockstraps. Thanks!
