Subject: Military Jockstraps
I am interested in hearing from other veterans regarding their military jockstrap experiences.

When I enlisted in the Army in 1966, we were not issued jocks. Our Drill Sgt. encouraged us to buy jocks at the PX for physical training and long distance ruck marches. Most of us did, but we had to buy at least two as if we wore a jock, we had to have one folded to Army specs. in our underwear display drawer.

I worked 9 weeks as a medic in a remedial physical fitness platoon, and the Army not only issued tight jocks, they required the recruits to wear them all day.

I understand the Air Force and Marines issued jocks for basic.

Anyone else recall?

Subject: JOCKS AT BOOT CAMP
Yes, we were issued jockstraps and boxers at Air Force boot camp. Briefs not allowed. And we were required to wear jocks for PT twice a day. I wore them all the time, and about 1/3 of the men followed my lead and only wore jocks. Nobody wore boxers with jocks. Boxers were useless, and added uncomfortable material. In 1970 every man and boy that I knew owned a jockstrap, if not a drawer full, like my father.

I have written about this in JOCKSTRAP STORIES, as you have, so I will not repeat more here.

In 1967 Air Force Boot Camp they purchased jockstraps from different manufacturers. I guess to give all companies an equal chance.

the brand my squadron got were crappy and useless. But the guys wore them because they were better than nothing.

I brought 3 BIKES with me. We were not supposed to have any civilian possessions or we would be punished. In front of all the men I asked my Drill Sergeant if I could have permission to keep my own jockstraps that I brought with me.

he thought a moment and said, "Yes". I don't think any brother with balls is going to question another man's need for jockstraps.

I looked a lot more studly in my BIKES hanging around the barracks in just jocks.

Some of the other guys went to the PX and purchased better jocks there. They sold PAL jockstraps. The pouch was made out of the same material as the waist band. They gave excellent support, and looked better than what they issued us.

Like Jockeddotterr, I never wore the boxers they gave us. Only jocks. and I was the only man to sleep naked.

I hung out in the barracks in only a jockstrap every chance I got. I was showing off my manly body and nothing does it as well as a jockstrap. I am not extra hung; so I wasn't making a show, "See how much I have". I'm very much the average man. We are all awesome. They admired me for my self-confidence.

Hey Wrangler, did you have to fold or display your jockstraps per AF regs?
I have a friend who went thru AFROTC summer camp and told me they even had regs on how to display soiled jocks awaiting laundry.

Yes, we had to fold our jocks perfectly in our foot lockers. We folded them very much the same way they fold them to put them into the plastic boxes they sell them in. They gave us two. I had three more of my own BIKES. All were folded and lined-up.

If we were wearing one, it did not have to be in the drawer. Also, one might be in our laundry bag. Nothing in the laundry bag had to be folded.

We were given an ink pad and a rubber stamp with the first initial of our last name on it, and the last four numbers of our Social Security number. The guy doing the laundry for all of us washed all our jocks together, and then reassembled our clothes according to number. If the laundryman had been a jock sniffer, he would have been in heaven! It was 104F in Texas and our balls were sweating a lot.

I wish I had saved my military jockstraps with my number on them. I didn't think I would care later. Now I see it as a significant part of my developing manhood. Jockstraps were a common site at that time. We wore them into the showers and hung them on our bedposts to dry at night.

I think they gave us 6 T-shirts. We probably wore a new one each day and put them in the laundry. but they only gave us 2 jocks and we had to wear them part of every morning and part of every afternoon. Some of us wore them all the time. That is why we were told to wear them into the showers every evening to wash them.

One guy wore a cup all the time. They let him.

Subject: WHY WE HAD TO WEAR JOCKS
We had to wear jockstraps for all physical training, PT, obstacle course and long marches.

during instructions our drill sergeant said this:

There are always some guys who don't want to wear jockstraps. They do not think they are comfortable. But when they were allowed not to wear jocks the result was that there were too many men going to the hospital with swollen or aching balls and it costs Uncle Sam too much money.

Subject: Jocks in Army Basic Training
I clearly remember underwear issuance. We were carefully measured for boots, helmets, BDU's and fatigues, but when we approached the underwear counter there were off white boxers, and olive drab briefs displayed on the wall. I don;t remember if the quartermaster clerk was military or civilian, but I do remember him asking if we wanted briefs or boxers, before he passed out six one size fits all boxers to everyone in line.

Like most everyone else, I had always worn a jock in PE and sports starting in 7th grade and continuing my two years of college. The boxers provided no support, and in fact were too big and kept crawling down.

Wrangler mentioned twice a day PT at Lackland AFB. I presume he wore PT shorts and gym shoes. Well, at Ft. Leonard Wood, we had once a day PT, I mean it seemed like all day PT. We marched everywhere, all day and some nights, and our Drill. Sgt. always seemed to demand a healthy dose of double time, and even running, the whole time we were wearing wool socks, combat boots and long sleeve fatigues and a lid. And Wrangler, the Missouri Ozarks were just as warm as San Antonio as I know, I spent 24 weeks there in Medic School.

Yea, every recruit suffered aching balls, but speaking for myself, my dick seemed to have a habit of escaping the fly, and there was nothing worse than having your dick head rub against the zipper of your fatigues, knowing you had another 6 hours of formation or PT.

About the second week of basic some of the company members asked the Sgt. if they could buy briefs at the PX as the training demands intensified. Sarge said no an indicate most of us would be doing a tour in Vietnam, where most troops went without any underwear.

About the third week, for some reason Sarge told us we could go to the PX and buy jocks since we would be doing more heavy ruck marches and getting into hand to hand combat training. He told everyone to buy at least two jocks as one would have to be displayed, properly folded in our foot locker.

The PX sold Bike jocks, similar to the ones we wore in school, but without the wheel. We didn't have rubber stamps, but did have paper templates with our name, initial and number so everyone used the ink roller to mark our supporters. The newly acquired jock straps did solve the flopping and dick head problems, but it immediately became clear that if we wanted to wear a jock, we put it on at 05:30 and wore it continuously until 17:00 or even later. So the choice was sore balls, or severe chafing.

Our laundry was sent to Springfield or Columbia, and for some reason our jockstraps weren't always returned. Accordingly, we would rinse them out in the sink, then hang them on the bed post then put them back on in the morning, whether they were completely dry or not...

I cannot remember exactly what exercise we did when. It seemed like most days we were told to get our jocks on twice. At least once a day it was PT, where we wore gym shorts and jocks, and I don't remember what shoes. We did calisthenics and running.

About once a day we did long hard fast marches, sometimes jogging, or we did obstacle courses, ropes, climbing, crawling under wires, etc. We wore jocks with our fatigues and combat boots for those things.

I cannot imagine them forcing you to work out without a jock on. Bad for your balls. My cockhead is large, and the doctor who circumcised me did it tight, and left a lot of the tender inner foreskin exposed. I'm a lucky man, but I have to take care of it. It is very tender and I cannot let it rub around. I must wear something snug, the snugger the better.

Before WW2, most men were not circumcised and their dickheads were naturally protected. They only had to worry about their balls. Suspensory supporters, for just your balls were popular in my grandpa's time.

It is true that most guys in Vietnam went commando because it was so humid there. I would have had to wear a jock anyway. My buddy lost all the sensitivity in his cockhead from going commando in Nam, and he did not have sex with his wife. Our cockhead are not designed to be rubbing around.

Our fatigue pants buttoned up, and were thick but soft to the feel. So they would be the best to wear commando if you hand to go without a jock. We did not have zippers. That would be terrible. My dick would pop out of the fly in boxers if I was to wear them. You are not alone.

Once at an Army Surplus store, they had a box of jockstraps with a man's name on the label. Can't remember his name but it read something like Major McConnely's Specification. Some brother had designed a light weight jockstrap that was breathable and ideal for jungle humidity and heat. He was famous for something anyway, in a time and place! Probably WW2. I'm surprised they did not make them for Vietnam.

Subject: Wearing a cup during basic training....
To Strapped Wrangler: I can't imagine any recruit voluntarily wearing a cup all day during basic training. The flat triangular cups of the past would wear the skin on your thighs raw. I am surprised he wasn't dismissed as a mental case.

It wasn't unusual for college fraternities, mine included, to require pledges to wear jocks and cups, but the truth of the matter was that cups were so uncomfortable, they were utilized as a hazing device.

During basic training pugil stick combat, we wore metal cups, but they were held in place by a diaper like garment, worn outside of out fatigues.

Subject: THE CUP WEARER

You are correct, Squad Leader. I find cups terribly uncomfortable. This guy wore a cup all day long. He was raised by his grandmother and felt very afraid of competitive men. I think he felt that by protecting his vulnerable region he was protecting himself.

They guys didn't judge him though. They let him do his thing. It was a non-issue.

There was one exception. We had a bully trouble maker. He taunted the guy in front of everyone. Everyone was terrified that they might be targeted too. I solved that. I stripped to my jockstrap I was wearing, and walked up to the bully and told him,

"The day may come when the only way you will survive the war is if one of us guys risks his life to save yours. I think the best thing is that each of us likes you, and that we all love each other like brothers. Do you like that idea?"

I reached out my hand. He thought a moment and then shook my hand and said, "That sounds good to me, "Wrangler". You can go put your pants back on now!"

Subject: VA Jockstrap
Hey guys, I just wanted to chime in on this topic. I wear jockstraps out of both necessity and fetish. I suffered a testicular torsion on active duty, had surgery and they save my boys but I deal with testicular pain / heavy feeling ever since. The cure is actually not a pill but rather a jock. When I left active duty, I avoided the VA, however one day I decided to check it out for medical care. I talked with my primary care about my issue and testicular pain and he put in a referral to prosthetics/medical supply for me to pick up a jockstrap. The brand they issue is from a company called EzyWrap. I am only allowed 2 per year from the VA, but I am able to buy direct from the company (and so can you). What I really like about this jockstrap is that it is basically a Duke Supporter with a more realistic sized pouch. They stand up to alot of use. I wear jockstraps everyday and after a year they still fit a fell great.

I am looking to chat with and connect with other guys dealing with testicular pain as well as veterans. Please hit me up and lets chat.

If you are interested in checking out the Jockstrap from the VA here is the link https://www.ezywrap.com/products/208-male-athletic-supporter

Thanks,

Tim

Subject: Problem like Dochand85 and an injury to my balls
Like you Dochand85 I sustained an injury years ago.
I’d worn a jockstrap at school but not worn a jock for years until experiencing a lot of pain after a tennis game my opponent suggested a jockstrap
And now I’ve been wearing a jockstrap ever since
I’ve found a jock to be so comfortable that I wear one under boxers everyday
I’ve not experienced any major pain or discomfort ever since
Over the years because of the declining number of guys wearing jockstraps I fortuitously bought quite a few but sadly now I have 50 or 60 worn out Bike Jockstraps
Recently I’ve tried a few but some are hopeless
So does anyone have any suggestions

Subject: GOOD JOCKS

OMTEX ACE gives your boys a comfy ride. Buy the wide waistband in your size.

GYM JOCK. 2" waist band. I buy them a size smaller to get a snugger pouch. With the medium size waist band I do not notice that the waist is a smaller size.

You can get both of them from this site's store, jockstraps.com

Subject: HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

Happy Memorial Day, especially to you VETERANS. I wore a BIKE jock all through the military and still do. I never injured my nuts. I just like to keep them healthy. I will have one on as I attend Veteran's events and town celebrations.

When I go to the Veteran's clinic, there are guys serving there who wear gay rainbow emblems on their caps or somewhere. When I hear people around town bitching about gays I tell them that gay Americans served their country like me and everyone else. And they are still serving us at the clinic. I'm not going to let anyone degrade any of my brothers.
