Subject: Older jocks with a tighter pouch?
I like wearing my jocks low on my hips and like a well fitting pouch with a good lift, but many sports jocks these days seem designed for wearing on the waist. If I wear them on the hips, the end of the pouch disappears behind my thighs and there is not much lift. You can fold the waistband over but it doesn't look very good and tends to slip. If you're feeling daring, you can undo the stitching where the pouch meets the waistband, cut off a couple of inches and sew it back together again, but you have to be careful the pouch doesn't start to unravel, and you probably need a sewing machine to do this most efficiently. I have done it with a few Dukes, Bikes, McDavids, etc, (and the help of my wife's machine) but they still look a bit ragged, though the fit is much better. Those of us who remember the jocks of the 60s and 70s will probably remember how comfortable they were, with a higher cotton content and a tighter fitting pouch - my first jock was a Bike with the wheel on the label and it was great, newer Bikes have been less good. Now that Bike no longer makes jocks and the online retailers have successfully got the manufacturers who used to make the jocks for Bike to make them again as the Gym or Meyer brands, perhaps it would be possible to resurrect some of the great jocks of the past, for example by Bike, Flarico, Futuro, Bub, Johnson & Johnson, and so on. You can see many of these in the archive galleries of guys in jockstraps, and some of them occasionally appear for sale at hugely inflated prices and quickly get snapped up, so there is clearly a market for vintage jocks. My candidates for revival would be the Bike no 10 with the wheel on the label, and the Futuro VGard, which was a great jock, very comfortable and well fitting. What do other guys think? What are the chances of recreating more vintage jocks?

I have had better luck altering the pouches from the bottom, cutting the threads on the junction of the straps, cutting a v shape into the bottom of the pouch and rejoining the seam into the shape that works. I did this on a lot of the square cut pouches (trufit) that had a point sticking out once you slipped it on. If careful you can get a nice contour in the pouch and sew the straps back on. I agree some of the older straps were better made. As we age, lift and separation are words you will appreciate!

I’m with you guys, I wish the pouches on sports jock straps were shorter thus allowing the waistband to sit lower on the hips. I’ve never tried altering them.

I am fan of the early BIKE#10 came box with Bike wheel log mine was small with one re strip. Putting on first time sensual and erotic and pouch gave me felling of protection. Also like Franklins they are tight pouch.

I totally agree that the older (vintage) jockstraps had much better elastic pouches. My first jockstrap was a Bike 10 with the wheel logo and that pouch conformed to the bulge of my cock and balls. Their swimmer jocks did the same ad felt very nice with enough protection. I think the biggest problem now for manufactures is finding good quality elastic material for the jockstrap pouches. Seems the newer jocks have an inferior quality of elastic or they use other fabrics altogether.

Subject: WANT MORE SUPPORTIVE POUCHES
AMEN to everything written above!

Some athletes still wearing jocks pull them up above their belly buttons to get the bottom of the pouch to cup their nuts and actually lift them up. (Look at my photos on my profile.) Nobody wants to have to wear the waist band that high. It doesn't harmonize with the body. An athlete needs the waist band on his hips.

Decades earlier many of the jocks fit right. For some reason BIKES started making oversized pouches. There is so much lose material I can jump up and down and my balls bounce and ache. There is enough room in the pouches to fit two apples and three bananas. No one needs that much room.

When they started making the over-sized pouches, I talked to college athletes. They hated jocks for not giving support. They switched to tight briefs. The over-sized pouches are the thing that killed jockstraps.

Granted, there are a few guys who have too long of cocks for the shorter pouches that you can sometimes still find. But I have seen huge guys wearing the new BIKES and there is still room enough for two apples and one banana.

I have had my wife tailor them as described above, chopping 1/2" off the top of the pouch. A sewing machine can secure it well. Also you can take a needle and thread and take-in the useless flap behind your balls.

I am really pissed off that they are selling so many VINTAGE BIKES, that only go back to 2000. The pouches are oversized. They are not the vintage jocks we want. I wrote all the guys having VINTAGE jocks made, and they almost shorten the pouches but decide "No". I suspect the reason is that they would have to get the manufacturer to change the construction just for them, and that would cost extra money. But the truth is that every retailer ordering them should request shorter pouches.

It's up to you guys. They have too please the customers, so write letters to Joe the AK site manager.

Subject: Short pouch
This year I've bought a Fortuna and a BDM. Fortuna is made in London (yes, miracle) and has a pouch of stocking stitch knitted cotton tube with leg elastics that go under and up through the pouch. Same as Litesome etc. Short pouch, lifts and suitable for cycling. BDM comes from Getbaddedup.co.uk wide waistband, small pouch with cup pocket. All cotton, lovely shaped pouch. You can't get Sallis Healthcare by mail order in the USA, but may have a UK friend who could help. That one's nearly as good as a Litesome.

I have a Mueller jock. they are made real good and have a snug pouch. No more room than the average guy needs to fill the pouch. Don't remember where I bought it. Possibly Jockstrap Central.

Actually I have two, purchased at different times. One is snugger than the other. There is no elastic in the pouch, just a tight but expandable weave. It looks like a standard athletic supporter.

This site sells the OMTEX ACE. That has a shorter pouch. I like them.

Good luck finding someone to bring back the true vintage jocks. The fashion jocks all have snug pouches. That's what guys want. But they have spandex pouches. They don't have the technology to make sturdy athletic jocks with the traditional perfected pouch with elastic strands.
