Subject: Vintage BIKE beige jocks
Anyone know the age difference between a BIKE wheel size Small jock with a single red stripe and a single blue stripe? I'm sure there was a big corporate reason for changing from blue to red or red to blue, but which came first?? Many thanks.
PS We need to get AK owner to write a history of jockstraps to go along with his photographic museum! Wonder if he does tours.... |

Bike jockstraps had a tracer line based one the size. 1 for small...2 for med...3 for large....4 for XL. I have seen some with a blue line in them but not sure when or why. When I finally wore a man's jockstrap it had 3 red tracer lines but the tags were different colors for size. The #10 changed to have grey and blue tracer lines. At first they kept the colored tags but then went to a standard with the size on them. It might have been since jockstraps no longer became washed and shared. |

My first jockstrap back in 1966 just had the wheel logo size label on the plain elastic waistband. I got a new jock in 9th grade in 1968 and that size small jockstrap had one blue tracer line in the elastic waistband. In the late 70's I worked for a textile distributor that sold clothing and piece goods to small retailers in the mid-Atlantic states. We sold Bike jocks back then and those jockstraps all had the red stripes in the waistbands. I left that job in 1981 so up until at least the early 80's they still had the red stripes in the waist bands. |

My first BIKE#10 was back in 1958 we were required to have athletic supporter as part of PE uniform. Never forget being in my bed room and alone with my new and first supporter. As opened the box the aroma of rubber and elastic filled the air. Removing my BIKE from the box and unfolding it, next getting undressed to slip it on. Boy did get surprise with boner but once on on could feel the power of the jockstrap. These began my jockstrap fetish. |

After teaching and coaching I had a 25 year career as a manufacturers rep. selling sporting goods and janitorial supplies, mostly to school districts and the ma & pop retail stores mentioned by n2jocks. I probably sold 20,000 jockstraps and probably each and every one of them could tell a story. The tracer stripes in the Bike #10 originally were found only in the 12 jock school packs. As indicated the men's small had one strip, medium 2, large 3 etc. Bike sold an X-tra small jock which did not have tracer lines. They also sold boys sized jocks used in elementary school PE classes and they did not have stripes. I don't think there was any significance in the change from blue to red stripes. Probably nothing more than the fact that The Kendall Co. who made them found that they could buy red thread cheaper than blue. The Bike #10 wheel jockstraps which were individually packaged and sold retail usually (but not always) did not have stripes. The only reason the jocks had tracer stripes in the waistbands was for school laundry purposes. It was common in many schools for PE uniforms to be washed by the school daily, and for expediency when the jocks came out of the clothes dryer they were simply thrown into bins, sorted by stripe indicated size. PE students only needed to provide gym shoes, and at the beginning of class grabbed a shirt, shorts socks and jock of proper size from the bins. |

Subject: Stripes and making gym laundry easier
Could you imagine the uproar today if: 1) Boys still had to wear a jock for PE; 2) if the schools washed the uniforms; 3) Boys were expected to wear a communal jock! You think there are riots in Portland?! The helicopter moms would be be burning down every gym across this country!! |

Subject: Gym laundry service
At the University of Oregon the gym issued their own gym gear and had laundry service as described above. I was optional, but most students used the gym clothes rather than bringing their own. In addition to no-label jockstraps, t-stirts, and socks, the gym had very hot vintage gray cotton PE shorts, which I would always use as underwear too. I'd wear them home and masturbate into them at night, then return them the next day for a fresh pair. It was hot thinking about the hundreds of guys who had worn the shorts I was squirting my sperm into. |
